This page explains what happens to your personal data when you subscribe to Tech Architect Insights, sign up for the free 5-day course, or download the career guide. I’ve kept it short and in plain English.
I’m Bogdan Colța, based in Timișoara, Romania, and I run Tech Architect Insights as an individual. For data protection purposes, I’m the controller of your data. You can reach me about anything on this page at [email protected].
When you sign up, I collect your email address and, if you choose to give it, your first name. I can also see which form you used and, where it’s available, the page or link that brought you to it.
When you read the emails, beehiiv records whether you opened them and which links you clicked. I use this to see which topics are useful and to remove addresses that have stopped reading.
If you refer other people, I can see how many of them subscribed through your personal link, so I can send you any reward you’ve earned.
When you visit the website, beehiiv collects basic analytics such as the pages you visit and the site you came from. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the banner when you first arrive.
I use your data to send you what you signed up for: the weekly newsletter, the 5-day course or the career guide, and referral rewards if you earn them. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR, which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. I don’t sell your data, and I don’t share it with anyone apart from the service providers below.
The newsletter runs on beehiiv, a company based in the United States that stores your data and sends the emails on my behalf. Because your data is transferred to the US, beehiiv’s data processing agreement covers the transfer with the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. beehiiv uses its own sub-processors to run its service.
When you subscribe, you may be shown other newsletters I recommend. If you choose to subscribe to one of them, your email address is passed to that newsletter, and only then.
I keep your data until you unsubscribe. After that, I keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so you aren’t emailed again by mistake. If you’d like that removed as well, ask me, and I’ll delete it.
You can ask me for a copy of your data, ask me to correct or delete it, ask me to restrict or stop processing it, or ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. Write to [email protected], and I’ll reply within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP, dataprotection.ro) or to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live.
The newsletter isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their data.
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how I use your data, I’ll tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
