I take a public postmortem, lately from Cloudflare and Coinbase, and look for the design decision that let the problem spread. There’s usually a check at the end you can run on one of your own systems in about an hour.

Hi, I’m Bogdan

I’ve been building software for 18 years, the last 11 of them in fintech, mostly payments and e-invoicing. These days I work as an enterprise architect. I started the newsletter because I wanted something like it when I was a senior developer trying to work out what architects actually do all week.
